Double Digits?

Is that how you know you're getting old? When your child reaches double digits? Perhaps that's why I have procrastinated blogging about it, but it's time. Jacob turned 10 a week ago!! At times it seems like it's flown by, and at times it feels like a lifetime ago that Jacob was born into our home!! He has sure had a great year of sports, school, friends and fun.

For his birthday, Jacob wanted to have a big birthday baseball game. So we gathered a few of our neighbor families together and headed to a local baseball park for a game. What a great idea!! I think everyone had a great time with the Pretty, Pretty, Purple Ponies coming out on top either in score or acrobatics (Phil actually did a cartwheel at one point as he was running home!) It's nice to be a kid again and Jacob loved playing!! We ended the night with cupcakes, ice cream and cracker jakes! Happy Birthday bud! We hope this year is every bit as amazing as last!!
Jake got a new addition to our garage as well!! He's such an outdoor kid and has loved having a new bike.

He did it!!!

For the past, I don't know, maybe 5 years, Phil's car has been a bit of a family joke. The Houston heat was not good to it. All of the insides are peeling off, the hubcaps are long gone, the AC has been out as long as we've lived here, the chevy sign fell off (as if being embarrassed to be called one), and even the truck slams shut instead of staying open. That would be a sad way to go if you ask me!! "What happened to Phil?" "Um, he reached in to get something from his trunk and we haven't seen him since!"

Well, we have been actively looking for a car for a few months now and we finally settled on a Hyundai Elantra this week! Phil looks mighty fine driving it and showing up to places with out a sweat dripping shirt!! Way to go Phil!! We're so happy to have that one out of the way!!
