something right
Most of the time I feel like a lousy, good for nothing mom. Ok, that is a little harsh and partially untrue, but I do often wonder if anything we try to teach gets through to these boys. On Thursday I had made cookies and intending to take some to someone (which I didn't end up doing) I had wrapped some in saran wrap on a plate. One of the boys noticed and pronounced that we couldn't eat those because they were for someone. Micah said, "Fred always brings us brownies, can we take them to him?" Fred is our widower neighbor across the street. He is a great man and one the boys admire. "Of course!" Great idea Micah. So I sent he and Jacob out the door with the cookies expecting a quick return. Well, I waited, and waited, and waited. I finally needed to leave about 25 minutes later so I went to retrieve them. Peeking in the window did my heart good. The boys were relaxed on the couch chewing the fat with Fred. When I rang the door bell, I could tell I had interrupted something special. As we walked home Micah said he didn't ever want to leave he was having such a great time!! Yes! Despite their parents, these boys have learned that it feels good to serve, to do something for someone else and in the meantime our own hearts are lifted. Thanks Micah and Fred for reminding me of this important lesson. Did I mention they came home with a plate of brownies?

Blue and Gold/Scales and Tails
Phil has one goal as the Packmaster:
"Provide the boys with memorable experiences"
We think he pulled it off...
This is Malayna Felix from Scales and Tails Utah. She was part of our entertainment at this year's Blue and Gold Banquet
Malayna taught us a lot of things.
For example, if you want the boys attention like this:
all you have to do is this:
yep, that's a scorpion. It's name is "Tweety!"
Some of the other friends she brought included...
Twinkle Toes, the giant tortoise
Darth Gator, the 2 year old alligator
Slug, the Bearded Lizard
Zig-Zag, the Monitor
Charlie Brown, the Boa Constrictor
and this 21foot snake who's name I understandably forgot
The evening became very interactive, which the boys loved.
Getting to know you...
Getting to know...
...all about you.
...and you
...and even you
It could be worse...
you could be this guy:
Who's the best Pack Master ever?
Can there be any doubt?
What will he do next year?
(Good Bye Charlie Brown!)
