A Little Poll

I've always done it. As long as I can remember. I set my alarm clock ahead. It started small and then gradually over the years I've managed to add the minutes on until last night as I reset our clock before bed, I set it 22 minutes ahead and tucked myself in. My husband, however, started to moan and groan about what a quirky person I am! It's simple really. I set my alarm for 5:36. When it rings, I (unbeknownst to me most of the time) push snooze twice then get up at 5:54 which is really 5:34 and I'm two minutes ahead of when I wanted to get up. 20 extra minutes! He complained about getting ready and trying to do the math and figure out what time it really is and eventually it makes him late. Not my problem!

So I explained to Phil that he's really the weird one and that I'm not the only one who sets their clock ahead. Please back me up here, I'm not am I??? I'd like to know if you do, and if you don't, if you have another quirk that makes you, you know, normal like me!

Oh Jennie, I am laughing. "Not my problem!" Too funny.

Maybe it's so funny b/c we've had the same discussion at my house. However, I might add that 22 minutes early is...hmm...pretty early. I consistently set mine 5 min early. But here's my secret...not ALL of the clocks are set early and sometimes I forget which is which...and in the end it sometimes makes me late, but sometimes makes me early. After typing all this, I'm considering setting them all to the correct time to reduce the confusion...oh well!

First of all, I am just impressed that you get up that early to begin with. I think setting the clock ahead a little is a great idea, especially when you are like me and never get out the door quite when you need to. Knowing you have a little extra time is always a good thing. I hope you are doing well.

I do exactly the same thing, only twenty minutes on my bedroom alarm. All of my clocks in my house are five minutes ahead. I know people think it's crazy but for some reason I need it. Glad I'm not alone. Seems like the extra 20 minutes lets me "sleep" in a little bit longer.

I used to have all of my clocks set early, but every one was different, one 5 minutes, another 15. Bob asked me once, "can we have at least one clock in the house the correct time?" Since I have quit working, and do not normally need to be somewhere early in the morning most of my clocks have the correct time. I did have a guy look at my watch once to see the time, so I told him it was fast. He was annoyed and told me that I should change it because it would confuse people. I wanted to tell him it is my watch and I can do what I want, and if he really wanted to know the time he should get his own, but I didn't.
Anyway, sorry for the long comment. I think setting it ahead is a great thing; but apparently men disagree.

Jen,
Our clock is set 15 minutes ahead, but I always just do the math and get up when I want to get up anyway. Why don't we just set it at the right time? Who knows. I used to drive my roommate crazy by hitting the snooze a few times. She would say, "why don't you just set it for when you want to get up?" Who knows!

I used to have my clock set about 20 minutes ahead. It started in high school when I had Seminary at 5:15 a.m. It just felt better to get up at 5:00, rather than 4:40am. I don't remember when I stopped - probably around the time I got married. It's not a bad thing. I have one clock in my house that's set to Arizona time. It's my one-woman protest of Daylight Savings :)

Jennie, I hate to do it, but I have to side with Phil on this one. I like all my clocks to be the exact same time. I will painstaking try to get them to all change at the same time. As for the alarm, I don't use one(unless it is extremely important.) My body has an internal alarm clock,. The last time I set one was for our marathon last year. It can be really annoying, but it does help me be really consistent about exercise.

What's an alarm clock?

My clock has to be dead on, for me. Sorry, Jen, I'm with Phil on this one.
