what would you do?

We typically listen to books on tape in the car. We've heard some great stories over the years, and it keeps kids from bopping each other on the head during long car rides. Tonight, however we sat in a rare silence for a few minutes on our way home. I'm glad. We might have missed this great question by Ben to Jake. "If you had one thing you wanted to do in life, what would you do?" What a great question, and I posed it back to him once Jacob answered. The boys all gave very "them" answers and it was fun to hear what they said:
  • Jacob - "I would be a famous athlete and have a boy kid." He is so into sports right now and is always game for a game! I loved the fact that he added the boy kid part. He said he would name him Jacob Jr., like all the famous people do and teach him sports - love it!
  • Ben - "I would do something heroic!" I LOVED Ben's answer. That just sounds like him. He wanted to do something that people would honor him and be remembered by (don't we all?), "like save the world or something," he said. I love that kid.
  • Micah - "I would get a lego set that was like a real store and had a sign that said 'MicahMart' on it." Micah is our creative builder these days. He'll take any sort of box, trash or whatever and turn it into some kind of creation for "MicahMart".
  • Dad - "Retire."
  • Me - "I would love to see my boys grow up and be awesome, good people in this world." I am struggling with these boys growing up. It scares me, especially to see what little influence I have over them and I know it will become less and less. I so badly want to see them succeed in all of their righteous endeavors and live happy, successful lives!!! "...and run the Boston Marathon someday." Gotta have a dream.

Here is one of our MicahMart's. Looks like a pile of junk, but no, those are Micah's wonderful creations!I saw this pile by the door the other day and brought to Jacob's attention if he sticks to these things, life will be good: church, school and sports. He's listening right?

So my question to you is Ben's: what would you do if you had one thing you wanted to do in life?
