A Deacon

Well, I'm not quite sure how it happened, but our oldest son is a Deacon!!  I really thought my heart would ache a bit more seeing him leave primary.  But the truth is, Jacob is ready.  It seems like a very natural step for him to move up and receive the priesthood.  We've talked a lot about how important it is that on the ball field, at school, at home, everywhere, that Jacob doesn't do anything to keep him from being worthy to pass that sacrament on Sunday.  I hope he will always remember that.  He's had some good examples to follow.
Jacob takes his role of passing the sacrament very seriously and when he was gone for 2 hours on Sunday to collect Fast Offerings, I was afraid he would come home grumpy.  He was great.  I'm very proud of Jacob in his new role and have only shed a few tears of happiness!!
Grandpa Stevens and Natalie took off before pictures (and he also changed his clothes too quickly!), but here he is with Grandpa and Grandma Baird who came for the occasion.
And one with his parents.  Love that kid!!
