So Phil turned 40 this week. There are few who deserve and would appreciate a surprise party more than Phil. We gathered families on both sides and they hid in our basement while we waited for Phil "to pick up Micah from Scouts" so we could surprise him. And surprised he was (kind of...he always manages to find out somehow! Dang it!!) It was a fun evening and I thought the gifts were perfect!
40 arms and legs from Jeff and Kristin!
40 gloved fingers and thumbs from Grandpa Baird,
40 nails from Nicole for the time Phil dismantled a shed to protect his family,
and 40 nickels from his dad to represent Phil's ability to save growing up.
There were also 40 lawncare tips (Barry), 40 measures of flute/guitar music (Emily), 40 pictures of Phil in their lives in a number 40 (Bri & Lynette), 40 post cards from my favorite places we've visited and 40 napkins to help with the drooling (Kevin). Phil enjoyed the attention and even led us in singing happy birthday!
I'm grateful for this group of amazing people in our lives (we missed the Thuesons, Jeff and Kevin's family). We are truly blessed to be related to such great people!!
Happy 40th Phil!! May your next 40 be as amazingly productive and adventurous as your first!
We love you!
And one more great gift, an initiated hug from Maisie...just when he thought it couldn't get any better!! We love you Maisie! See you in October (they finally got there visa for Italy and all should be there safely tomorrow. Happy for them, bittersweet for us!)
