Needless to say, it made for a memorable Valentines Day. A few years ago we had another memorable one. I was huddled over on the couch, struggling through a miscarriage. My sweet husband was very attentive and protective of his dear wife. Not as wonderful as our first, but I fell in love with Phil again as he took such great care of me.
Another year I think Phil was down in the dumps for not doing much for Valentines Day. So what did he do? The day after he came home with a HUGE stuffed frog. A frog? I'm not sure how he expected that to solve anything, but it's gotten a lot of use over the years!
This year may be added to our list of "memorable" days. Not for what we did together, but because we were apart. Phil was lucky enough to be invited to go down to Costa Rica for some lectures and it so happened that this was the week. You realize how much you like having someone by your side when they're miles away on Valentines Day!
I was, however, taken care of! I woke up about 4:30 hearing someone rustling downstairs. Jacob! It's too early to be up. He came and handed me a note that read, "mom, you can't come down yet!" So cute. I went back to bed, but came down later to see this on the table:
We enjoyed making Valentines this year. Here 's what the boys did (I'm glad they'll still humor me with this kind of stuff - I love it!):

I had forgotten that you guys got engaged around Valentines day. That was sweet that Phil didn't forget even though he was gone.
