that your burdens may be light...

We had a great FHE lesson last week. Phil talked about Matthew 11:28-30. He had each of the boys put on a backpack and try to carry it as he filled it with books. As it got heavier and heavier, Micah struggled to carry the load. Phil asked what he could do to help. "Take out the books!" No, but he would help him carry it. Getting through to Micah and trying to relate it to life can be, we'll say tricky. Phil brilliantly handed each boy a paper and asked them to draw what might be in their "backpack" and how we, or Heavenly Father could help with their problems so they aren't so heavy for them.

After explaining the assignment he asked if Micah had anything in his backpack. His first response was no. Then he said, "Actually I do...mom!" We laughed so hard! Let me tell you the feeling is mutual buddy!!! This picture he drew is priceless. The caption says: "I am mom in the backpack." (Can you tell we're learning to read?) Any suggestions on how I can get out of the backpack?

Candy, Jen. Just give him candy. You won't be in the back pack anymore!
